"Blooming Marvel! Three-Day White Orchid Festival Kicks Off in Kurseong, the Land of White Orchids!"

Kurseong: The three-day Kurseong White Orchid Festival commenced today in Kurseong, known as the land of white orchids. The festival, which will run until January 26, began with a grand cultural and unity parade. The unity parade started from the Kurseong bus terminus, passed through Kurseong Twon, and concluded at the event venue, Monteviot Ground. The unity parade featured traditional Lakhey dance and Naumati Baja (a traditional Nepali musical ensemble). 

Prominent personalities like Anit Thapa, the Chief Executive of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), GTA Deputy Chairman Rajesh Chhetri, members of the legislative assembly Ratan Thapa, Shyam Sherpa, and Nuri Sherpa, along with Kurseong Municipality Chairman Brigen Gurung, Vice Chairman Subash Pradhan, Kurseong Block Panchayat Committee President Anu Chhetri Pradhan, and chairpersons of various cultural development boards, participated in the parade.
The festival was officially inaugurated by GTA Chief Executive Anit Thapa. The opening day featured cultural ramp walks by representatives of different ethnic groups’ cultural development boards, along with Singe dance performances. Additionally, a variety of cultural dances and a cultural fashion show were organized.

The three-day festival includes an array of programs such as musical band competitions, fashion shows featuring Gorkha beauty and elegance, a walkathon for women over 60, marathons, Chungi (a traditional game) competitions, various fitness challenges, and arm wrestling. Renowned musical bands from both local and external regions will also perform during the festival. On the first evening, local musical groups entertained the audience. The second and third days of the Kurseong White Orchid Festival will feature more cultural and musical programs, along with competitive events.
